The power of niche marketing
A business with limited time and budget needs to choose where to concentrate. Focusing on a defined audience can make the offer, message and sales effort more relevant.
Choose a useful focus
A niche might be a type of customer, a technical requirement, a sector or a problem you solve particularly well. Check that there is enough demand, that you can reach buyers and that the work makes commercial sense.
Learn the buying decision
Talk to customers about what triggers a purchase, who is involved and what makes one supplier more suitable than another. Use that understanding to explain the offer and choose evidence buyers will recognise.
Concentrate the work
A clear focus helps the team decide which case studies to develop, which events to attend and what the website needs to explain. It can also make it easier to identify work that is a poor fit.
Keep the choice under review
Specialisation brings risks as well as opportunities. Watch customer concentration, changes in demand and reliance on a small number of buyers. Expand when the evidence supports it, rather than broadening the offer simply to appeal to everyone.
